 Welcome to Deeper Dating. In the year since its inception, this event has grown at an amazing rate. To me, the following story explains why: As a child, someone I know asked his grandmother why he so often felt out of place in the world. She took a moment to think, and then said “Honey, you are a rare bird, and one day, when you finally find your flock, you'll really be able to fly.” For those of us who base our lives upon deeper values, it is essential that we choose others with similar commitments ... both as friends and as romantic partners. Surrounded by those who don't share these values, we feel lost and out of place. In the presence of those who do, we have a shot at great happiness.
All of us can benefit from a richer sense of family and community. In addition to dates and relationships, friends are made at Deeper Dating. Dating is hard, and we need training to learn to be authentic, open, kind, and brave with each other in the dating world. I often say that no matter what we look like, no matter what our life circumstances are, there are appropriate people out there who are looking for someone like us. We get taught that one must look a certain way in order to be successful in the dating world. It is just not true! Part of what makes the world go round is that different people are attracted to different people.
I am also honored to have such highly skilled clinicians leading the Deeper Dating events. And finally, I am proud that Deeper Dating contributes a portion of all its profits to some very wonderful organizations. In the year that Deeper Dating has been in existence, many new couples have been created, many new friendships made, and a good amount of money has been raised for worthy causes.
